State v. Dylan Bryce Painter

OUTCOME: pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and second-degree domestic violence. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Painter got into a fight with the mother of his child and hit her in front of their 8-month-old baby on June 14, 2021. She left the house with their child and called Painter’s best friend, Mason Davis ... , to calm Painter, according to investigators. Investigators said Davis arrived at the home and spoke with Settle outside before going inside to speak with Painter. They said once in the home, Painter got into an argument with Davis, and Painter shot Davis three times in the back with a 12-gauge pump shotgun. Davis died at the scene. Painter claimed self-defense, but investigators with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said they determined Painter’s self-defense claim was not credible. Timothy Wayne Wilbanks, 57, of Spartanburg, came to Spartan Spot store on Asheville Highway in Spartanburg on Nov. 9, 2021, and took $300 by holding the store clerk at gunpoint. deputies with the Spa ... rtanburg County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and viewed videotape from cameras at the store where they saw the clothing Wilbanks wore when he robbed the clerk at gunpoint. Investigators confirmed Wilbanks matched the description of a suspect in a burglary earlier that morning on Swanee Street in Spartanburg. Wilbanks also matched the description of the suspect in an armed robbery on Oct. 31, 2021, at Boiling Springs Massage Therapy. law enforcement knew the suspect in the armed robberies of the Swanee Street burglary and the Boiling Springs Massage Therapy drove a red Dodge Durango. Deputies with SCSO located the red Durango and Wilbanks up the road from Spartan Spot store. Barnette says the deputy saw the red Durango, turned on his blue lights, and started a pursuit, but Wilbanks refused to stop and was able to escape. A second deputy with SCSO spotted the Durango and started the pursuit again. the Durango came to a complete stop in the opposite lane of traffic, but Wilbanks still refused to comply with deputies. Wilbanks was taken into custody after he resisted arrest and deputies were able to find methamphetamine, clonazepam, a firearm, and $319 in small bills. For each of Quinn’s four counts of perjury, Quinn was sentenced to six months on home detention. His sentences for perjury will be served concurrently with each other and concurrently with the 18 months on home detention he received for one count of obstruction of justice. on Jan. 1, 2020, Braxton went into the Donnette Bar and Grill on Asheville Highway with a small bag on his chest. He proceeded to play a game before pulling a pistol and robbing three men at gunpoint. ... Braxton fled the scene in blue Crown Victoria that was shot at by one of the victims. Officials said Braxton was then involved in the robbery and killing of Juan Booker at Promenade Apartments in Spartanburg on Jan, 10, 2020. Braxton took Booker’s phone and money after shooting him. Video footage from nearby locations assisted the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office in determining a white Honda Accord was involved in the incident. A couple of weeks later, the Sheriff’s Office said they saw Braxton behind the wheel of a white Honda Accord with an incorrect license plate. The license plate on the Honda Accord came back to a blue Crown Victoria. Officials attempted to complete a traffic stop but Braxton fled, stopped the car and led deputies on a foot pursuit. During the foot pursuit, Braxton dropped a bag that had the smaller bag used during the armed robbery at Donnettes. The solicitor’s office said Braxton was taken into custody and gave statements admitting to his involvement in the armed robberies at Donnettes and the killing of booker. In 2021, officials said Braxton and other inmates attacked Jesse Redding at the Spartanburg County Detention Center, fracturing his skull. on Thanksgiving, November 26, 2020, around 9:20 p.m. Ericka Solesbee was driving a 2007 Honda sedan along with Alexis Harris as a passenger northbound on Parris Bridge Road. A sedan driven by William ... Watson was traveling south on Parris Bridge Road. A third vehicle, a 2004 GMC pickup truck, driven by Jamells Floyd was also traveling south on Parris Bridge Road. Mr. Floyd in his truck passed Mr. Watson’s sedan and was traveling left of center. Mr. Floyd’s truck struck Ms. Solesbee’s Honda sedan head on. Mr. Floyd’s truck then traveled right of center and struck the left of Mr. Watson’s sedan. Ms. Solesbee was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Harris was transported to SRMC for injuries. Mr. Floyd was also transported to SRMC and was determined to be under the influence. A hospital blood test showed Mr. Floyd’s blood alcohol was .162 and a legal blood test drawn later andtested by SLED showed a blood alcohol of .114 with 7.7 ng/ml of THC in his system. Inman police said at the time that Morgan was a co-worker of Porter's and was shot and killed while doing repair work at a home. Goode shot 34-year-old Mildred Susanne Motes to death on May 16, 2019, outside of a Massey Road home where he lived with his parents. Goode used a 12-gauge shotgun to shoot Motes in the head. Before t ... he shooting, neighbors reported hearing arguing at the Massey Road home. Police were not called until Goode’s mother discovered Motes’ body in the backyard by a chicken coop. Goode was identified as a person of interest and officers were able to arrest him the following day after a traffic stop in Pacolet. During an interview with Cherokee County Sheriff’s investigators, Goode said the shooting was an accident and told deputies where he ditched the shotgun.
