Biography
Amy was born in Greenville, South Carolina, February 10, 1963, to Carl Thomas Cofield, III, and Mary Ann Cofield. Until 1978 she was raised in the Golden Strip area of Greenville County, South Carolina. In 1978, her family moved to Anderson where she graduated from T. L. Hanna in 1981.
After graduating from USC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education in 1984, Amy taught fifth grade at Starr Elementary School in Anderson County for three years. While teaching school she completed her Master of Education Degree in 1987.
Amy graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School in December, 1990, and after passing the bar examination joined her father, C. Thomas Cofield, III, in practice in Anderson, South Carolina until he passed away in 1994. She continued to operate her law firm as a solo practitioner until she moved to Lexington, South Carolina. In 2002, she joined her brother, Thomas C. Cofield, and reformed the family law firm.
Amy is a member of the SC Bar, Lexington County Bar, SCWCEA (South Carolina Workers' Compensation Education Association) where she serves as a Board member, and Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church.
Amy is married to Jimmy Terrapin of Lexington, South Carolina. In her “free time” she enjoys spending time with her family, painting, crocheting, golf, and Gamecock sports!
