About Daniel
Biography
Daniel graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Daniel served on the Editorial Board of the South Carolina Law Review and received the CALI Award for Legal Drafting.
After graduating law school and practicing in South Carolina, most recently as a partner with a litigation defense firm in Columbia, Daniel joined our Asheville office as a partner, and his primary area of practice continues to be workers' compensation defense. He is licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Daniel was designated a Medicare Set-Aside Consultant Certified by the International Commission on Health Care Certification. He was certified as a Circuit Court Mediator by the South Carolina Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification.
Daniel has been included in Best Lawyers in America for Workers' Compensation from 2010 to 2014. He was also chosen by his peers to be listed as a “Rising Star” in the South Carolina Edition of Super Lawyers and has earned the highest (AV-Rated) ranking awarded by Martindale-Hubbell.
He is author of the article 2007 South Carolina Workers' Compensation Reform Act: An Overview, published in South Carolina Lawyer magazine, and is co-author of the treatise Beard, Poteat, Lamar, Sumwalt, Hayes, The Law of Workers' Compensation Insurance in South Carolina, Fifth Edition, published by the South Carolina Bar.
