I pride myself on being a compassionate advocate that is accessible to my clients. I am a dedicated attorney that cares about your case and your future.
I am a graduate of the North Carolina Central School of Law. I graduated with high honors in the top 10% of her class. During law school I served on both the Law Review and the Moot Court Board
I am currently the Vice President of the Craven County Bar Association and an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association. I also serves as a board member on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council in Craven County.
Before beginning my legal career, I worked with the United Nations and the International Campaign to Ban Landmines in a joint effort to raise funds for clearing minefields in Mozambique. I also lobbied U.S. Congressional members in an effort to raise awareness of the global landmine crises. My article on this subject was published in the U.N. Vision. Later, I served in the AmeriCorps as a literacy tutor for troubled youth and Mexican migrant farm workers. I moved to New Bern and married my husband, Steven Jerome, a local fireman, in 2011.
I am a zealous trial attorney focusing on both criminal defense and family law. In criminal cases, I will take the time to discuss your options, such as community service, limited driving privileges, and expunging your record. Remember, even something as small as a traffic ticket can have a long term effect on your finances, insurance, and driving record. I represent clients with misdemeanors and felonies, traffic tickets, driving while license revoked, and DUI issues in Craven, Pamlico and Carteret Counties.
Additionally, I handle family related matters such as child custody and visitation, separation agreements, equitable distribution claims, and absolute divorce. I understand that these are very personal and very emotional issues and my role is not only an advocate, but also a counselor in law. I am dedicated to giving myclients a cost-effective, timely result with the personalized attention that each case deserves.
