PLEASE do not hire for custody

Poor handling in child custody case. Did not properly notify for me to come to court. He put in court notes that I didn't let the court know there was a family emergency. It was extremely important to me to go to court because ex is and has been addicted to drugs for years and is extremely abusive. ...He was supposed to get a drug test for the court and never did. Went back to court again and absolutely nothing. Forked out over $ 7000 for absolutely nothing. Please do not hire him for a custody issue.

Be prepared to defend yourself

I've seen Attorney Potter in action in court hearings, for almost two years. He enjoys putting mothers on the witness stand, and giving them a hard time, whatever he can say, to get them to almost buckle under pressure. He seems to be a man's lawyer, not really on the side of single mother's at all..., and he's very aggressive. be prepared to defend yourself well.

Lacks basic morals

Decided not to hire Mr. Potter after consultation. The person that answers the phone has more class and manners.

Not honest.

I hired an attorney Potter to get emergency custody of my daughter because her mom was in jail. Was not honest about the $5,200 flat fee. Lost my case and took off with the money. I was not proven to be an unfit parent so custody should go to me but it didn't. If you want to just honest lawyer who wi...ll take your money this is the lawyer for you!

Do NOT retain

If you wish to waste money then this is the attorney for you. Initial consultation $500, Retainer $5000. During the one year separation I was stuck paying the mortgage on the disputed property plus the mortgage on spouses home in trust. This "attorney" made countless promises to have her evicted and ...switch homes for fair living cost. He did NOTHING over the entire year. The 2 hearings he set up were continued and he made no attempt to reschedule unless I complained. I was not even notified of the cancelled hearings and sat in the court room for an hour until I went to the clerk of court to find out what was going on. The second hearing I was not even notified of the hearing until the day of and it was also cancelled. During his initial consultation he assured me he would fight hard for my military retirement rights. When we finally got our mediation this fella tried to get me to sign off on 100% loss vice the 50/50 law. He advised me to give up my 15% retirement, full TSP, The home, all property, AND remain married for one year so she can continue my Tricare and dental benefit. When he was confronted he denied any such promises. He told me if my case were to go before a judge the result would be the same and I should just go ahead and give her what she wants!!!!???? no fight for my rights; not even a fight for my rating within the NC 50/50. I strongly discourage against this attorney.
