On May 23, 2013, an over-height load semi-truck struck the overhead steel truss of Washington State's Skagit River Bridge, causing the bridge to collapse. David Geary, an iron worker, was part of the c ... rew that replaced the bridge. He sustained serious injures while working to replace the collapsed bridge during a crane lift of a 10,000 pound steel beam that dropped. Geary was pinned under the steel beam for approximately 5 minutes resulting in significant injury.
