Sherry E. Miller

I have had many attorneys and although I don't feel like my expectations are unreasonable, I do expect the best from my attorney. After leaving my last attorney due to his lack of interest in my case, I contacted Mrs. Miller. I felt great about her after my initial consultation, but when I saw her in... action in the court room she blew me away. Ironically, the attorney we were up against was one I had looked into hiring in the past, and Mrs Miller blew her out of the water. I was so pleased that I retained Mrs. Miller instead. She is SHARP and caught small details with just a glance when exhibits were entered into evidence by opposing counsel.. She built significant arguments out of small details that supported my case. Even if I had lost my case, I felt she represented me perfectly. She made sure everything I wanted to say was said and all evidence I wanted entered was entered. She is extremely professional despite a severe lack in professionalism from other attorneys, yet never backed down from a somewhat rude and at times loud witness. She is organized, takes lots of notes and gets to the point. She doesn't seem to miss a thing. I would change nothing and am very happy to have her on my next case. Lastly, she bills far more fairly than any other attorney I have had. She has really taken a ton of stress off my shoulders and I am so grateful to have had her.

1. Doubled charged on billing several times and did not provide details of billing actions. 2. Transposed the address on my quick claim deed but still charged me for the full price but never corrected the mistake after it was filed. 3. There were erroneous facts in my "Review of Facts" that ...were unfounded that I pointed out to Ms. Miller that was never corrected during the review process. 4. The paralegal, Christine Walden, is also the billing agent, thus all issues with my billing and questions about how I was billed and the services that were provided went through Ms. Walden. 5. During my two days on the stand, Ms. Miller did not object to one thing, although the Judge objected on my behalf during the cross examination and instructed Ms. Miller that she can object as well (documented in transcript). 6. Key facts more specifically my ex spouse's state retirement benefits was left out and not factored in during the discover process in which I paid for. The Judge had do discover it during the trail, thus take a break so that Ms. Miller and the opposing attorney could factor in my ex spouse's retirement, although my retirement was already factored.

I hired Ms. Miller after interviewing several other attorneys to represent me against my ex-husband who was seeking to modify our child custody agreement and child support order. She was attentive and seemed to understand and be willing to address my concerns at our first consultation. However, that ...was the last time I saw or heard from her until my court date. My phone calls and emails were never returned, and I never received notification of court dates until after they had passed. I never received copies of temporary court orders until they were obsolete. The only correspondence I received was a billing statement on which I was charged for every phone call, every email, and every piece of paper I never received. When it was time for my final court date, there was no preparation, so I was put on the stand to testify with no knowledge of the questions my own attorney would be asking. Ms. Miller was unprepared and seemed more concerned with appeasing opposing counsel than working toward what was truly in the best interest of my child.

Attorney Miller is an inept attorney at law. She has misrepresented herself as a true professional. Her lack of attention to detail is extremely poor and her understanding of your needs and wants go unaddressed. You cannot trust her to do what is in your best interest and if you needed her assista...nce on an issue involving your case it took days before she would get back to you. Attorney Miller would allow herself to be influenced by the opposing party's attorney and she would not stand up against opposing counsel with regard to my son. Attorney Miller is not familiar with the military enough to represent any one in the military. Her arrogance and unprofessionalism shines through as well as her lies. She had me believing that she would take care of my son when in fact she mislead him on several issues. I provided her with evidence that she would not have otherwise have if it were not for me giving it to her - AND SHE NEVER PRESENTED IT IN COURT.

Ms. Miller was very unattentive to my case. It would take her several business days to respond to my calls and emails. When she did respond she would only address some of my questions. When corresponding with my ex-wives lawyer the letters coming out of her office were very unprofessional and casu...al; they started off with Dear Sally, rather than Dear Mrs. Jones, there were many grammatical errors in the letters-it looked as though no one had taken the time to proof what they had written. My children are being mistreated by my ex-wives live in lesbian lover and she did not seem the least bit concerned with my childrens well being. I hired her thinking I would receive good representation and make my childrens lives better. I paid all the fees she requested hoping to get my case failry represented in court and get my childrens complaints heard, these are not the results I received from Mrs. Miller. It was 2 1/2 months after the temporary custody hearing that I received my copy of the agreement from Ms. Millers office, my ex recived her copy over a month prior to me-seems her lawyer was on top of things. I had to do my own research and send Ms. Miller the links to the NC statues that allow for certian considerations when a member of the US armed forces is involved in a custody/visitation case. I can only guess at why she was so preoccupied when representing me, perhaps she just does not pay attention to detail or maybe she is trying to represent too many clients at one time. If you are looking for a lawyer who is going to give your case the attention and knowledge you need to be well represented in court, I would not recommend using Ms. Miller.
