EDWARD J. ‘NED’ MCNAUGHTON is a founding member of the construction litigation firm of McNaughton & Shelton, PLLC, and devotes almost his entire practice to serving construction clients from all levels of the industry. He is admitted to practice law in both North Carolina and Georgia, and represents construction industry clients in both state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations. Mr. McNaughton is an experienced seminar speaker and instructor in construction law matters and has authored multiple articles on construction law issues.
Mr. McNaughton is a cum laude graduate from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) School of Law, where he was listed in Who’s Who: American Law Students. He received his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Christian Brothers University, School of Business, in Memphis, Tennessee, where he earned top honors and was awarded Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key. While at Christian Brothers, Mr. McNaughton managed to simultaneously earn an associate’s degree in Productivity and Quality Control (TQM) from the State Technical Institute at Memphis, once again graduating at the top of his class. Mr. McNaughton is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, and the Georgia Bar Association. He is an active member of the ABA Forum on the Construction Law, the NCBA’s Construction Law and Litigation Sections, American Subcontractors Association of the Carolinas (where he is currently serving as Board Member for the Charlotte, NC Chapter), Associated Builders and Contractors, and North Carolina Utility Contractors Association.
Before attending law school, Mr. McNaughton worked as material logistics coordinator for a national construction equipment manufacturer, managed a Toys R Us store, and served in the United States Marine Corps, giving him real world business experience to better understand and represent his client’s needs and expectations.
