Sherrod D Seward

Sherrod Seward is a multilingual partner attorney that brings a unique, multicultural perspective to his practice. He earned his Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law after years of traveling abroad, including participation in the Trade Winds Africa business delegation in Johannesburg, South Africa. Sherrod oversees Oakhurst Legal Group and is passionate about forging long-term, personal relationships with his clients in all areas of business law. He uniquely seeks to help businesses struggling with international conflicts and has a proven track record of helping companies through problems of all sizes, types, and complexities. Sherrod is licensed in the District of Columbia and practices in federal court throughout the United States. He also has professional associations with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte World Affairs Council, and American Immigration Lawyers Association.

In addition to being an attorney, Sherrod is a broker for export trade credit and political risk Insurance for International Risk Consultants Inc., the largest specialty brokerage in the United States. In this role, Sherrod increases profit for multinational & domestic business by providing advocacy on risk mitigation. This accelerates international sales growth and improves financing relationships with banking institutions all over the world.  As an active broker of export solutions offered by the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Sherrod has built relationships with international trade industry and policy leadership—staying abreast of current and future trends in everything affecting international trade.

Sherrod received his bachelors in business from Hampton University, where he was a Presidential Scholar and marched in the Drumline. Sherrod received his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where he received awards for his service to the Black Law Students’ Association and work with the Children’s Hunger Alliance. In addition to being a practicing attorney and trade credit insurance broker, Sherrod enjoys hobbies and activities such as combat sports, bass guitar, traveling, and community service.
