Katie Louise Becker

From an early age, it became apparent that I liked to debate, to challenge the status quo, and to be a voice for others when they could not use their own. I grew up poor and I saw that folks with money and those without were treated very differently. As I went through life, I noticed this dynamic play out in the court setting over and over. All of those early experiences were the foundation of wanting to become an attorney.

I achieved that dream and became a North Carolina licensed attorney in January 2021, after spending years in various roles as a litigation paralegal, negotiating and drafting contracts in Corporate America, and traveling across the country for public policy and advocacy work. I also, along the way, raised three sons as a single mom and at times, represented myself in custody matters. I am passionate about doing the work of the family lawyer - I strive to make order out of chaos, to empower my clients to assert themselves and to be the authors' of their lives.

This work matters and I use my unique skill-set to meet folks where they are. Developing rapport and mutual trust and respect is critical and the best results are achieved when the lawyer and client work together, both being accountable. While zealous advocacy is at the heart of what we lawyers do, so too should be professionalism and diligence. Relationships matter - whether with the client, fellow attorneys, court staff or law enforcement - and I nurture those opportunities so that I can provide the best results possible.

I practice primarily in Cleveland, Lincoln, Rutherford, and Gaston counties. I also accept one-offs in Mecklenburg and Buncombe/Madison/Yancey/Haywood Counties.
