Catherine Ann Smith

I attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville for my undergraduate degree and completed law school at the University of Georgia School of Law. For several years at the beginning of my career, I worked for a local non-profit as a court-appointed lawyer representing children whose parents were engaged in high-conflict child custody litigation. After leaving the non-profit realm, I went into private family law practice representing adults as my clients instead of children, assisting clients in going to mediation and settling their cases outside of court, and representing clients in court litigating their claims in front of a judge. My practice is focused on helping families resolve their family law matters outside of court in collaborative divorce and negotiated settlements.

I am licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina and a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar. I am here to listen to you, support you through the decision of leaving your spouse or help you understand your rights if your spouse has left you, and help you understand every step of the separation and divorce process.
