Exceptional Legal Knowledge, Service, & Professionalism

I recently received a speeding ticket while driving through North Carolina from the Outer Banks. My citation was serious in that I was going beyond 15 mph over the speed limit. I live out-of-state and accordingly, the North Carolina statute required my return to Camden County for an in-person court ...appearance. Given that I serve in the military, there were tremendous implications that would disrupt obligations I had for work. I called around North Carolina and spent a great deal of time asking for a seasoned professional who is well-respected in Camden County. I was told to be careful with finding “the right” attorney as the profession can be oversaturated with legal professionals who lack experience and in turn, create further complications. After reaching out to everyone I knew in North Carolina—or from there—a close family friend who retired from law in North Carolina came back to me with the unequivocal recommendation of Mike Sanders. I reached out to him via email and had a response within hours. When I called his office, his staff was exceptionally professional. Mr. Sanders could not have been calmer and more professional on the phone. When I hung up, I immediately felt relief in that he assured me that there were means of dealing with my case without me traveling across the country for court. He noted he deals with this sort of case regularly and is intimately familiar with the Camden County and North Carolina legal processes for traffic violations. An hour after the phone call, I had a personalized letter from him articulating what I could expect. That next day, Mr. Sanders called me with news that he had already found a means to settle the isuse and my flight back to North Carolina was not necessary. I could not have been more pleased and impressed by the legal services, professionalism, and responsiveness of Mike Sanders.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I'm a local lawyer who was born and raised in Elizabeth City. I can say, undoubtedly, that for the past 25 years Michael Sanders has been a trusted name in criminal defense. He has represented thousands of clients with professionalism and distinction. It's been a couple of decades since I had to call on his services myself, but before he was a colleague, he was my attorney of choice. Since I'm still a relatively novice lawyer, he's also the one I make sure to watch when he is trying a case. He's the real deal."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
