Courtney C. Britt

Courtney’s practice focuses on defending private businesses, employers and insurance carriers in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, workers’ compensation and civil liability matters. She has tried cases in North Carolina Superior Court, at the North Carolina Industrial Commission and in United States District Court.

A graduate of Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Courtney worked in a genetics laboratory for a Fortune 500 company before attending law school. Courtney received her Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University where she was recognized as an outstanding trial advocate by the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers.

Courtney has served as a continuing legal education instructor for the North Carolina Bar Association, presenting on how to defend workers' compensation claims. In addition, she has published "Interpreting Coverage Under the Insurance Contract" and "Litigating the Insurance Claim" for a continuing legal education seminar. Courtney has also presented numerous custom-designed seminars for employers and insurance carriers on topics such as investigating and handling claims and legislative reforms.

Courtney has earned the highest (AV-Rated) ranking awarded by Martindale-Hubbell. She has also been recognized as a "Rising Star" by her peers in the 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 North Carolina editions of Super Lawyers and in 2013 and 2014 she was listed in Best Lawyers in America for Workers’ Compensation-Employers.
