Divorce is no fun for anyone involved but Catherine made the entire process easy and stress-free for me. She helped me get everything I asked for and kept me informed every step of the way. More than that, she was friendly and courteous, keeping me at ease through the most stressful time in my life. I can’t thank her enough.
Worked with Ms. Bailey for my divorce. She was extremely professional. Her paralegal was very communicative, helpful, and I couldn’t have done this divorce without her!
Again, divorce and separation can be a broad term related to the issues that arise at the end of a marriage. Often the former couple can resolve their marital issues by agreement.
"Family Law" encompasses many things including divorce, separation, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, domestic violence, adoption, and prenuptial or postnuptial agreements. I also mediate all types of family law cases.
Whether an adoption is uncontested or contested, domestic or international, adopting a relative or adopting a child you have never met, adoption is one of the most rewarding areas of my practice. it can also be one of the most difficult to do right.
Whether you're seeking alimony or your former spouse is seeking it, alimony remains one of the most difficult areas of family law to resolve as it varies so much from case to case. Preparation and solid financial evidence is key.
Where your children live and who has the authority to raise them is the most important issue in most situations. It is important to advocate for what you believe to be in your child's best interests and why that is the case.
Making sure that the children have what they need to grow up happy and healthy is a vital part of any breakup where children are involved. It can be challenging to determine the income and the costs associated with caring for your children.
Sometimes a relationship ends in violence and one party finds him or herself in need of protection. It is important to know that the evidence is gathered and presented in the manner to be successful in court.
Unfortunately, sometimes people cannot manage their own affairs because they are minor children who have no parents available to care for them or because they do not have the capacity to care for themselves.
Protecting your assets and income while entering into a marriage is something not everyone thinks about but everyone should. Even if you do not have a lot of assets as you marry, planning what you agree is fair now can inform the future.
Finalizing a divorce after the mandatory one-year separation period can give a sense of finality and relief. It is also nice to know that when you have an attorney representing you you will never have to appear in court to finalize the divorce.

Smart, Professional, & Caring
I went through a divorce that was ...well no divorce is a good experience, but my ex is very disturbed. Catherine always gave sound, professional, ethical advice. Catherine kept the kids and their well being as a primary focus. Alimony, child support, equitable distribution, military pension division were ALL very fair results. At least, I think so.
