Biography
For over fifteen years, I have counseled clients in complex commercial real estate transactions.
I work with real estate developers from start to finish: purchase, subdivision, municipal approval, construction and sale. I have represented clients in relation to zoning variances, municipal ordinance amendments, and appeals of property tax assessments. I have represented clients in both state and Federal Court.
I am licensed to practice law in North Carolina, Virginia and Massachusetts.
Clients have included banks, construction companies, insurance agencies, oil and propane companies, and real estate developers. I draft real estate purchase agreements, deeds, easements, rights of way and other real estate documents and conducted closings for all types of real estate transactions. Additionally, I create covenants for residential and commercial developments and worked with local governments for the approval of real estate development projects.
I am also experienced in all phases of litigation in a wide range of practice areas including banking and commercial lending, construction law, trust and estate disputes, bankruptcy, breach of contract, debtor/creditor, landlord/tenant, and land disputes. I have successfully conducted bench and jury trials in a variety of courts and jurisdictions and have extensive experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses and conducting and defending depositions. Over my career, I have appeared in United States District and Bankruptcy Courts and Virginia Supreme Court, Circuit and General District Courts.
