I am native of Winston-Salem, NC. I grew up near there in Pfafftown and graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1987. I received a BS in Chemical Engineering from NC State University in 1991. I attended the University of North Carolina School of Law as a Chancellors Scholar and earned my JD with honors in 1994.
I concentrate my professional practice in the area of criminal law and handle all types of cases in this area, from traffic tickets to first degree murder. I have been lead counsel in over 50 jury trials and have handled over 100 cases in the appellate courts of North Carolina.
I am known for thorough preparation, for being quick on my feet during trial, and for a dogged dedication to representing the interests of my clients, even if their position is unpopular or causes them to collide with those in power.

Seriously??
Hired Mr Reece because he came soooo highly recommended. But, I never once in the 12+ months he had my case, never once did he return my calls. I was definitely NOT kept in the loop. Every time I called to see what the status was, one of his employees, paralegals, receptionists "took a message" as Mr...
As a trial lawyer, I do spend my days in court representing clients - if you want a good lawyer, you should hire a busy one. I try to return phone calls by day's end when possible, and I tell my clients to email me any time they have a question or need information. I am always available by email. It's hard to respond to an anonymous review. Without more specific information, I can only say that I regret it when a client is dissatisfied. I take pride in my work and I try to treat clients the way I would want to be treated.

I'm a student in Virginia, and contacted Mr. Reece asking for his unbiased assessment on whether I needed a lawyer for the case or not. He advised me th...

"Mr. Reece is extremely knowledgeable in the areas of Criminal Law and Appeals, and he has established a stellar reputation among other attorneys. I endorse him as an attorney, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a zealous criminal defense attorney in the Johnston County area."
"I have known Mike Reece since college and became re-acquainted with him when I returned to NC to practice law in 1998. Since that time, I have seen Mike grow into one of the most respected attorneys in the specialty of criminal defense. He has defended clients in cases ranging from misdemeanors to first-degree murder. His skills as a defense attorney have been apparent not only in trials, but also in his work on criminal appeals as well. Mike is never afraid of taking on the prosecution in defense of his clients. His work is top-notch and if I were in trouble I would want him on my side."
