I am native of Winston-Salem, NC. I grew up near there in Pfafftown and graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1987. I received a BS in Chemical Engineering from NC State University in 1991. I attended the University of North Carolina School of Law as a Chancellors Scholar and earned my JD with honors in 1994.
I concentrate my professional practice in the area of criminal law and handle all types of cases in this area, from traffic tickets to first degree murder. I have been lead counsel in over 50 jury trials and have handled over 100 cases in the appellate courts of North Carolina.
I am known for thorough preparation, for being quick on my feet during trial, and for a dogged dedication to representing the interests of my clients, even if their position is unpopular or causes them to collide with those in power.

Helpful and Honest
Got a speeding ticket traveling through NC going 83 in a 65. Even though I had exactly 0 prior offenses, I was given a court date in lieu of a fine. I'm a student in Virginia, and contacted Mr. Reece asking for his unbiased assessment on whether I needed a lawyer for the case or not. He advised me th...

Helped me in a bind while I was out of state
I saw the lights flash in my rearview mirror. I pulled over like I learned in school, kept my hands on the wheel and did exactly what I should have: until I found out my license was suspended. HOW? HOW COULD THIS BE? ...for a NC Ticket that I had long since forgotten about. I was in Maryland, my h...

Does a Good Job
He is my regular lawyer for traffic tickets. He always gets it reduced to something that won't hurt my license. I had one really bad one and he told me that it would be tough to get me out of it but he would try and it would take a while. He got me out of it!!!! I send all my friends to him.

Very Good Lawyer
He handled my stepson's DWI and got it dismissed in court when he confused the officer on some stuff about how he stopped him. He went out to where it happened with us and so he knew more about the roads than the officer did. He did a great job.
"Mr. Reece is extremely knowledgeable in the areas of Criminal Law and Appeals, and he has established a stellar reputation among other attorneys. I endorse him as an attorney, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a zealous criminal defense attorney in the Johnston County area."
"I have known Mike Reece since college and became re-acquainted with him when I returned to NC to practice law in 1998. Since that time, I have seen Mike grow into one of the most respected attorneys in the specialty of criminal defense. He has defended clients in cases ranging from misdemeanors to first-degree murder. His skills as a defense attorney have been apparent not only in trials, but also in his work on criminal appeals as well. Mike is never afraid of taking on the prosecution in defense of his clients. His work is top-notch and if I were in trouble I would want him on my side."
