I met Amy Privette at her office in Nov 2025 to prepare a will. Two weeks prior, I attended a free workshop on estate planning organized by Carolina Family Estate Planning (CFEP). They are pro-trusts and anti-wills. Little did I expect that Privette would continue where they left off. Privette's w...ebsite speaks of her "compassionate and empathetic nature". Neither qualities showed up during that one meeting with her. Instead, she spent much of the time convincing me to get a trust, emphasizing all its positives and pointing out all the negatives of getting a will. She echoed CFEP's message about putting all of my assets into a trust. Listening to her, I felt like I was working with a debating opponent. Her energy was relentless... like a force of nature. However, a force of nature is neither compassionate nor empathetic. For example, when she pointed out that should my son sell the house that he inherited from me, he would pay tax on the profit made. I pointed out that it would be better than paying tax for the entire value. Her response was immediate. She not only doubled down, but also doubled in energy and volume - she wanted to win the argument. Prior to the meeting, I filled out the worksheet that Privette's secretary Pam Z. sent me. It asked to list assets, valuations, beneficiaries and executors. Privette hardly mention any of them in the meeting. As mentioned before, she was all about convincing me to get a trust. She made little effort to know my needs, much less meet me halfway. For a while, I considered getting a trust. But I then realized that it was more trouble than it was worth. I communicated my decision to get a will by email. Had I told her in person, I would expect more verbal bombardments. To my good fortune, she did not oppose the decision. Not everyone needs a trust. I don't and my reasons are as follows: - don't own a business, charity or some other high-value asset - asset value does not exceed $1 million (IMO, trust is worth it if cost is <5% of asset value) - don't have children from multiple relations, or annulments of past relationships - don't have acrimonious or estranged relations with surviving kins, or lack surviving next of kins - partial protection of real estate (we co-own our home but spouse isn't doing estate planning) - terms of trust can have unforseen consequences that takes months to resolve (make appointment, review revised drafts and final signing) - no guarantees of asset protection while I'm alive I will not disclose the pricing other than a mention that it was fair. Privette offered different packages for wills in laminated paper. I was allowed to see it, but not touch it or take pictures of it. Don't know if that was standard policy or if it was Privette being Privette. In the weeks that followed, I received the drafts from her by email, gave my approvals, and returned to her office in January for the signing of the will. Her brother acted as a witness. After I left her office, I received a final email from her containing sofy-copy attachments of the will. I also received a letter from her by postal mail stating that she would not keep records of my will documents, effectively ending the relationship. That is fine since I have no intention of going back to her should I need to update my will in the future. Privette gets 3 stars because she delivered what I asked. But her attempts to persuade me to get a trust, and the lengths she took to do so, is quite much.

Amy helped us after my mom passed navigating the state requirements to become an executor for her estate, do what is required for probate, and finally distribute her estate as per her wishes in her will. What we recommend is that EVERYONE AT GLENAIRE meet with her right away, to make sure your estate is in order and your plans are exactly what you want - because she is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM YOU. I *thought* my mother's plans were in order but learned they were not after she passed. Please make sure you work with Amy so this doesn't happen to you.
