Deborah J. Bowers

I have been pracitising law for almost 30 years.  After practising for several years in New Jersey in the 1980's, I moved to North Carolina and resumed the practice of law in 1998 after taking a few years off to be a full time mom.  I joined my current firm at that time and have been part of PCKB for the past 20 or so years. 

My practice in recent years has become more focused on insurance coverage matters for both insurers and policyholders and on construction defect litigation.  However, I also handle some employment matters and represent municipalities when called upon to do so.  

I joined the relatively new Insurance Law section of the NC Bar Assn. and am now acting secretary for the Bar Council for that group as well as heading up a committee to develop draft pattern jury instructions for insurance cases.

I became a certified mediator about eight years ago and enjoy mediating when I have the opportunity.  I have recently become part of a statewide focus group to promote the use of collaborative law principles in construction and other matters. Outside the practice of law, I serve on the City of Greensboro Board of Adjustment.

After almost 3 decades of practising law, I still enjoy representing my clients and doing my utmost to obtain the best result for them.
