Allie Petrova focuses exclusively on business and taxation matters. Ms. Petrova assists closely held businesses with startup, acquisitions, reorganizations, and exits.
She handles tax disputes for individuals and businesses, and represents them before the Internal Revenue Service and in the U.S. Tax Court. In the tax controversy arena, Ms. Petrova counsels clients involved in IRS civil tax examinations, administrative appeals, and tax collection matters. She also advises businesses on how to structure transactions in a tax-efficient manner.
Allie dedicates a substantial portion of her practice to M&A transactions and negotiates complex business her mother and brother in dentistry and physicians in the extended family, Allie has a perspective on the clinical side and particularly enjoys working with dentists, veterinarians, and physicians.
Attorney Petrova developed her tax and transactional expertise as a senior tax consultant in M&A tax work at Ernst & Young in New York City. In New York, Allie’s practice focused on complex tax structuring and planning for a wide range of domestic and international business entities. Before founding Petrova Law, she practiced corporate and tax law with Schell Bray PLLC firm.
Attorney Petrova worked at the Office of Chief Counsel at the Internal Revenue Service and the Office of the National Taxpayer Advocate in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Petrova is the current chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Tax Section and the immediate past chair of the Closely Held Businesses Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Taxation and serves.
Ms. Petrova received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she completed an LL.M. in Taxation, an advanced tax law degree. Ms. Petrova’s well-rounded legal education includes an LL.M. degree in International Economic Law degree from a bilingual program at The Sorbonne. She received her B.S. degree in Business and Economics with a Finance concentration, summa cum laude, with departmental honors from Greensboro College.
Ms. Petrova is a frequent speaker and writer for the American Bar Association Tax Section, state bar associations, CPA organizations, and prominent business groups.
Allie Petrova is a member of the United States Tax Court Bar and the United States Supreme Court Bar.
