I was charged with a felony for a small amount of marijuana. At first, I went to one of the bigger law firms around the Triad and was told I had no shot and would be lucky to take a plea deal that would include a low tier felony conviction. This result was not acceptable to me given the small amount ...of marijuana (less than a gram). Emily and her colleague Steven awarding were able to negotiate a plea of a misdemeanor of less than a half oz of marijuana which was the exact goal I was shooting for. Based on my reading, I knew I would have to plea to something, but a felony plea would have cost my my job and my family’s livelihood. Steven and Emily were caring, throrough and accommodative.
