I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Growing up in the area, I was heavily involved in the community as an Eagle Scout and graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School. Following graduation from Reynolds, I attended college at Virginia Tech. A proud Hokie, I went on to earn two degrees with honors in Political Science and Economics and to become a Rhodes Scholar nominee. I returned home to attend law school at Wake Forest University, where I was the Symposium Editor for the Journal of Law and Policy. Upon graduation, I was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for excellence in courtroom advocacy due to my extensive Moot Court experience on the ABA National Appellate Advocacy and National Moot Court teams.
I am the founder and managing partner of Greenwood Law. As a criminal defense lawyer, I practice state and federal criminal law in North Carolina. With a law firm in Winston Salem, I provide skilled defense counsel to clients throughout the state. If you face criminal charges in North Carolina, it is important to consult with a knowledgeable defense lawyer before making any statements to police or prosecutors. Even seemingly harmless statements can come back to haunt you. I can help you to understand the charges you face and guide you through the criminal justice system. I can be your strong advocate in negotiation or at trial, depending on the circumstances of your case. I handle a broad range of criminal defense matters, including DUI/DWI defense, white collar crimes, drug possession charges, gun violations, criminal appeals, murder, expungements, and traffic violations.
My practice also includes family law. Though separation, divorce, and child custody can be draining, frustrating and painful, you do not have to, nor should you, go through it alone. With a caring and compassionate law firm on your side, you will learn what the laws are through simple, yet effective communication. We will separate fact from fiction, helping you to navigate and to consider important decisions that can affect your future.
Immigration law is a part of our law firm as well. We will work hard to make sure that you fully understand what the U.S. government requires if you are seeking permanent resident status and citizenship. We will guide you through the complex procedures. We also handle immigration issues related to family law.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, son, other family members and friends. We love to travel throughout the world. I also enjoy playing golf, and giving back to the community that has given so much to me.

He is crook. He conspires with DA to get charges dropped and doesn't represent his customers in court.
I hired this younger lawyer for a simple traffic violation case. He had 2 jobs that we agreed to ( 1. to consult with, 2. to show up to court..) He missed 2 court dates and the 2nd time he missed they issued a warrant out for my arrest. This was embarrassing and extremely unprofessional, and I was al...
This individual did get charges dismissed. The charges were dismissed pursuant to an agreement with the DA—a daily part of my job—and our firm secured that dismissal. We also appeared for him in Court. I did not personally appear for him on the second court date because my Mother had passed away, and it was the day of her service. However, my Partner was present at that court date before coming to the service himself. I tried to explain to this individual that we have had many clerical issues due to turnover in the clerk's office and with COVID. There were two clerical errors that occurred in his case, where the clerk did not adequately note our appearance. We caught these errors and rectified them with the court. This individual did have to pay an unusually high bond, but that was not our fault (it was set by the Court) and his bond was not in danger of being forfeited. It takes months for that to actually occur because clerical errors do happen. Courts want to give an opportunity for those to be rectified. A request was made for us to get the AXON video for the traffic stop. However, we were able to work out a deal where this individual was given an opportunity to apologize to the officer involved for a dismissal. That happened. The case was dismissed. I never admitted I was wrong over the phone. I stated that our office did everything it could to help. I also explained that clerical errors happened, and we were on top of it. Having experienced attorneys like us means that you have someone who knows how to catch and correct errors when they happen by our courts. We apologized to this person that his case was one where these clerical errors happened. We found it ludicrous that a full refund was requested after the work we did and the result we got for this individual. This individual did not receive their money back from the credit card company because we were notified that they denied the request due to sufficient evidence of services rendered. Additionally, this individual hired us a case that was resolved in less than 4 months. Given the state of our Court system during this pandemic that was very quick. We knew that this person wanted a result and we go the result.
"I endorse this lawyer. He is a committed and talented advocate for clients and well respected in the legal community."
