Help with probating the will.

He had done my sisters will . He helped me with what I needed to become executor . The service was fast, complete and efficient.

Wrote Will and then probated

This lawyer wrote the will for a family member and then probated it upon death. Did not follow through with putting all deeds in names of those to which land was willed but to Heirs. Had asked him previously to fix the problem and he replied that he could for about $200. This should have been done ...initially in settling the estate. As a result of a sale of property this year, a survey has been uncovered that does not follow the instructions in the will. There was no survey in the papers filed as part of the final estate. As executor, I was told by the family member that a line was drawn on the property map by Larry Callahan, surveyor. When the property was sold it would need to be surveyed according to the will instructions. I talked with Allied Surveying, who established the surveying corners for the sale, and found the surveyor who did the work in 1983 but was refused a copy even if I paid for it. Was told by Forsyth County Officials that survey was not what the will stated and that I needed a lawyer. Went to see Ed Brewer and he could not remember anything but referred me to County records for the file. It turns out that a check was issued from the estate funds to pay for the survey but it did not indicate it was for a survey and was issued to a generic name of the company which would never be suspected of being a survey company. A builder has bought the property and had no knowledge of this problem. I was the heir who signed off on the estate checks and paperwork and had no idea a survey was done within days of the death. Ed Brewer refuses to get involved and does not remember anything. I found this site while trying to find an attorney to help me straighten out this problem as a result of Ed Brewer's initial work writing the will and then probating it.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
