Clayton has served as co-counsel in cases successfully tried to verdict including a $13.2 million jury verdict obtained on behalf of the family of a 16 year old girl killed in a motorcycle accident. The jury found that the acts of the defendants were reckless and willful and assessed $5 million in punitive damages as part of the verdict. He also served as co-counsel in a landmark $27 million settlement obtained for the family of a boilermaker killed in a construction fire which occurred during the manufacturing of fiberglass liners inside a concrete stack at a utility plant. The case was settled after Plaintiffs' opening statements and is believed to be one of the largest wrongful death settlements in West Virginia.
