also known as M. Paul Valois
I am a former engineer and one of a very few attorneys who have succesfully completed the Law Reader program of the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners. I am in practice with my wife Margaret in Lynchburg and I devote more than 80% of my practice to criminal defense. I love to try cases and I have tried hundreds of cases ranging from simple traffic cases in traffic court to a seven-day first-degree murder jury trial in circuit court.
If you are looking for an aggressive defense attorney who will fight to make sure your rights are protected, please call my office to schedule a consultation. I fight for my clients.

Has great ideas, makes you think he can handle the case. But my experience is he has no follow through except to keep sending out invoices. He will push the case out as long as he can just to keep billing. You will eventually have to start over with a new attorney.
Anonymous reviewer just expects legal services for free. I represented this client for SIX YEARS in a civil fraud lawsuit related to the client's federal criminal conviction. During that time, I filed responsive pleadings, managed incoming and outgoing discovery, defended two depositions and conducted SIX depositions of my own (over the course of nearly three full days). In all that time, I billed for less than 50 hours of attorney time TOTAL. That is less than 10 hours per YEAR. Client hasn't paid outstanding bill in nearly a YEAR. I sent many reminders, but the client either ignored or made up excuses without paying. The client wanted a "meeting" without paying, in the latest attempt to drag this case out more (which the client falsely blames on me). Finally, I had to tell the client to pay or I could no longer stay in the case and work for free. THAT is when the client posted this cowardly and false negative review. If you want someone who fights AND if you are willing to pay my fee as we agree, then please ignore this petty "review" and call me. If you want to cheat or extort a hard-working lawyer into working for free, please call someone else.
"I endorse Michael for both his knowledge of the law, and persistence in fighting for his clients. As part of some of the same professional organizations, I have seen both first hand."
"Mr. Valois is an exceptional attorney. He has mentored me on many cases when I started my law practice. Most importantly, he understands and has taught me there are many ways to defend your case and won't pursue futile endeavors. If he can't find a way, there is probably no way. He is regularly sought out by other attorneys for advice."
