I hired this lawyer to handle my divorce. He was eager to handle it for me, only to admit that I was able to get more in settlement than he would have been able to. When it was time to sign paperwork, both parties were given NO paperwork when it was signed. He proceeded to demand payment for services... that were already paid, and I finally had to produce evidence of the check he cashed to prove that actually OVERPAYMENT was made. I was told that it would take only a short time for divorce to be final, only to wait over a month and I still hadn't received divorce papers. I had to call and find out what was taking so long. I was told that they "overlooked" sending me the divorce papers and that they'd get them sent to me. I finally received them almost a month and a half after divorce was final! Upon receipt of final divorce decree, I find no settlement agreement included. I called their office and asked why. His receptionist (who is his wife) tells me that both parties were given them when we signed all of the paperwork, and that she'd speak to him regarding this phone call. I wait for a couple weeks with no reply back. I called again, and again receptionist insists we were given copies, but will relay my message that I'm still waiting to receive them. I wait another couple weeks and call back yet again. Finally the receptionist says that he thought we were all given copies of the settlement agreement, and she will send me a copy. I waited ANOTHER 2 weeks, still no papers. I called AGAIN and my phone call went to their voicemail. I leave a message that I've still not received the copy of settlement agreement the receptionist said she would send out, and that I would stop by their office and pick it up myself the next day. I go to their office only to find they are no longer there. I call them again, it goes to their voicemail. I have someone else use their phone to call the lawyers office. The receptionist answers right away. The person identified themselves, tells the receptionist that she'd like to pick up the papers for me and the RECEPTIONIST HANGS UP! So now it's obvious that they've been deliberately avoiding MY phone calls. How unprofessional and frankly rude of the receptionist (his wife). No one should have to call repeatedly just to get their divorce decree, settlement agreement, not to mention not keeping my account correct of my payments that were made. Extremely unprofessional.
