David was born and raised in the Roanoke Valley; the son of a Registered Nurse and a Roanoke City Police Officer, he spent his childhood in Salem and attended Glenvar High School. After graduating, he went on to attend Virginia Tech where he received degrees in both Finance and Accounting. After graduation, David worked as an accountant in both the public and private sectors but decided the law was his true calling and went on to attend Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he graduated with honors at the top of his class in 2010. David then began his legal career as a Judicial Clerk for the 23rd Circuit of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 2011, David began working and training with his mentor, Richard Lee Lawrence. After Richard's passing in March 2012, David took on a variety of cases and gained knowledge and experience in his own practice. In late 2012, David accepted a position with a small firm in Roanoke, Virginia where he worked until 2015, when he joined Gilbert, Bird & Weston, PC.

David is a litigator who loves being in court on any type of case from civil and business litigation to family and criminal law. David has acquired a passion for cases in which most attorneys would find exceedingly difficult or overly complicated. David is a problem solver and is a true advocate for his clients, both in and out of the Courtroom, if a problem can't be resolved in settlement, David is an aggressive litigator. David has tried cases in various jurisdictions across the state in Juvenile and Domestic Court, General District Court and Circuit Court: Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Salem, Botetourt County, Bedford County, Franklin County, Craig County, Alleghany County, and Montgomery County. David has handled civil, criminal and traffic infractions in Federal Court as well.  

In his spare time, David enjoys being with his Wife and three children, is an avid follower of Virginia Tech Sports and enjoys playing guitar and watching live music.

Our lawyer for life!
David has assisted my family in two separate child custody cases. One was for physical custody of my husband's daughter. David was able to help my husband obtain physical custody of her by practicing ethically and with integrity. This was a lengthy and drawn out case with many complex across state line issues. He went above and beyond his call of duty to answer all of our questions and guided us in a way that we were within our legal rights and also protecting the best interest of the child. We had absolutely no issues getting in contact with him and were also able to establish a relationship with his assistant, Jessica. We trust David so much that we hired him to assist us in obtaining full physical and legal custody of a family member's child. We contacted him and the very next day, the papers were drafted and ready to be signed. David has always operated in a timely fashion for my family. We recommend him with glowing reviews to anyone who is in need of legal assistance for custody issues (and criminal matters) because we trust in his ability to get the job done every single time!

He knows his stuff
I have hired David to help me with multiple cases. In fact my entire family uses him. He represented me in a custody case that I had 2 lawyers previously not be able to help me. He then represented me in a criminal case that was dismissed. David is very attentive and helpful. He doesn’t make you feel like you are being ridiculous and he genuinely cares! He is very knowledgeable and knows the laws. It took 3 years for the other lawyers to get me no where and it took David less than a year to get it fixed. I recommend him to everyone I know!

Highly recommended lawyer
I hired David to represent me in a custody case that ended up lasting a year (due to the other party). David was there for me every step of the way. Any questions or concerns that I had he answered very promptly which was very unlike any other attorney I have ever come in contact with. It did not matter how small or large my question was David took it seriously and made sure every aspect of that question was answered. If your looking for an attorney who will work for you then you must hire David Robinson.

One of the Best.
Last year I made a terribly irresponsible decision and attempted to drive home after an evening of catching up with old friends at a local bar. Long story short I was arrested and charged with DUI and a bad one at that. I did not wreck and I did not harm anyone but my BAC was above .15 which is very bad in the eyes of the law and calls for some severe punishments. I decided on having David Robinson represent me on the charges and it is easily one of the best decisions I have ever made. David was very honest and up front about the potential punishment I could receive but was also very convincing and confident that everything would be ok. During the months leading up to my court date David and his team stayed in contact with me and kept me up to date on everything that was happening and kept me prepared for every possible outcome. When my day in court finally came I was able to walk out of the court room a free man. A little lighter in the wallet and with several months of obligations to fulfill for the courts but much better off than I would have been with any other Attorney. He was able to have me convicted of a 1st time DUI ( which it was) with a BAC of .08 and had my fines reduced to the mandatory minimum. If it wasn't for sentencing guidelines that could not be avoided I believe David would have had my sentence reduced even more. Not once did I feel like I didn't deserve punishment for my DUI but everyone makes mistakes and shouldn't always lose everything they have or have their lives ruined over a poor decision that was completely out of character. David Robinson without a doubt is one of the best Attorneys in the region and goes above and beyond for his clients in and out of the court room. I will never use another Attorney as long as he is practicing.

More than your average attorney
David represented my son on a serious drug charge that made my son a repeat offender. Mr. Robinson went above and beyond our expectations on the communication side, and did an awesome negotiation with the county of Botetourt. I would recommend to anybody that needs legal advice or above average representation. He not only knows his stuff, he can explain it to us "not so knowledgeable" people. His staff is expedient in getting any and all messages to him, and he's prompt in his response.

Great lawyer
David has represented me for numerous hearings both criminal and family court. He had always done a great job and kept honest with me the entire process. He is the only lawyer I will use in Roanoke. He is a great person and an aggressive, knowledgeable lawyer.

Best Lawyer Ever
David is a younger attorney but he really knows the law and his way around the court room. I have had him represent me on a few different matters in various areas of the law and he has always done a top notch job.
