Attorney Stratton got the job done, and our case went the way we wanted it to go. This was a very clean, open-shut child visitation agreement case. He was easy to hire, had a pleasant attitude, and got the issue resolved. However, the reason I can't rate five stars is because trying to get in contact... with him in between court dates was almost impossible. At one point, it actually took him an entire month to return my phone calls, and by the time I spoke to him again, it was too close to the court date for the information to make a difference. I even tried to communicate through texts but that didn't effect the timeliness of our correspondence. He is a very difficult person to get ahold of. For our last court appearance in October, he was actually late. We had agreed to meet at the court house at 10:15AM, but he didn't show until almost 11:15AM. Thankfully the judge waited so we didn't have to reschedule, but the anxiety of my lawyer running late for court was overwhelming. Attorney Stratton seems to have too much on his plate at all times, so if you're a client who likes weekly updates or check-ins regarding the status of your case, or even just being able to get in touch with your lawyer without any issues, then he is not the lawyer for you. Our case ended two months ago and I'm still trying to get in contact with him and his office to receive a final bill so I know if I owe him more money or if there was money left from the retainer fee that he owes to me. I wish I could give him 5 stars but the lack of communication from the time I hired him in June until now in December has made what should have been a simple court issue into a long, drawn out process of anxiously waiting.

I was in an hydroplaning accident that totaled my vehicle. Was going below the speed limit due to the weather and hydroplaned into oncoming traffic. My college-student son was walking back to his apartment from a party on the RU campus and was stopped by a Radford police officer, who observed he might be drunk. He was also underage (a few months before his 21st birthday). He was charged with two misdemeanors. My husband and I don’t live local...ly, but an acquaintance referred us to AJS Law. I accompanied my son to his appointment with Mr. Stratton, less than 48 hours from the scheduled court date/time. Mr. Stratton was kind, compassionate and clear with my son about what the law said, what some possible outcomes could be and how he could help. My son decided to work with Mr. Stratton, who promised to contact the commonwealth attorney and try to get some kind of a deal in place before going before the judge in less than 2 days. Although Mr. Stratton assured my son he could easily get a continuance if he wasn’t able to get hold of the commonwealth attorney in time and get things worked out, that didn’t end up being necessary. Mr. Stratton worked hard for us and got everything done in less than a day, so my son was able to keep his original court date (which is important, because he was having to work around his class schedule). Mr. Stratton was able to secure the best possible outcome we could have hoped for in the situation. He was able to get one of the misdemeanors dropped entirely. The other was deferred for 12 months, and pending my son’s completion of the VASAP program and a clean record, it would be dismissed. I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome and Mr. Stratton’s willingness to keep us informed along the way.

Mr. Stratton was not only supremely knowledgeable with respect to the law, he also was personally approachable and helpful in explaining the various nuances of the case. His ongoing professional relationships with Commonwealth's attorneys assisted in bringing the case to a speedy and just resolutio...n. When a not previously discussed situation arose, Mr. Stratton quickly strategized a new plan and successfully presented this to the Commonwealth which quickly accepted it. I was completely satisfied and very grateful for his representation and would recommend Mr. Stratton without reservation.
