Excellent overall

Mr. McGraw has worked with me with one successful case already and is in the process to hear my next case. He is knowledgeable and compassionate when it comes to family situations and wanting what is best for the child. He has made me feel the least amount of stress in such a hectic time with a child... support and custody battle. Knowing he is taking care and on my side has been a weight off my shoulders. I definitely highly recommend this lawyer for anyone in the Roanoke area.

Terrific Lawyer, Great Outcome!!!!!!

I hired Mr. McGraw for what started out as a divorce with custody, and the typical support and family and property issues. From there the case evolved into multiple different protective orders, domestic abuse allegations (that were false), and seemingly endless other issues. Mr. McGraw was always t...here at the other end of the phone, was always willing to set up face to face meetings with me whenever we needed, and he always explained things fully and fairly to me, which often times meant saying things that I did not want to hear, but they needed to be said. When we went to court he was extremely prepared, organized, and was extremely aggressive. The other lawyer would always try to interrupt, talk over him and contradict him, and he always very calmly but very firmly and persistently would present our side to go opposite of what the other attorney was trying to say, and the outcome of every single part of each one of these cases was even better than I expected.

FEELING COMPLETE!!1

Good lawyers do cost good money!! I paid quite a bit but feel that it was well worth the amount that I paid. He has always followed up with me and even used his personal cell when out of the office.I got better results than what was expected. One thing you must remember. Sometimes it is not the lawye...r but it is the client!! If they are not doing their part than they can only be represented as well is able. My ex paid a large amount for his attorney but when you are acting out of what is good for self and not the child the judge can see this. Pat cannot mold his clients into what the judge would want. Bad reviews for this man mean bad clients that are doing things that cannot be represented!!!

Stay away from him

Been years ago when he was at his other practice in Roanoke but this man told me I needed to take my son and hold him from the mother or the court was just gonna keep postponing the court date. He showed up late to every court date. I got called night before court cause he hadn’t looked at any of pap...erwork I had given him. I got crucified for taking his advice when I probably should have been on phone with CPS about why court had already been postponed 4 times and was threatening to be postponed again while I had no idea when I could see my son.

Yeah this is great...so he told me

This guy postponed my court date because the opposing Lawyer had a personnel issue to attend to. I had already advised him that this was time sensitive but in the best interests of my ex wife he went ahead and moved the date. Exactly what the opposing council wanted, as she knew I would not be able t...o attend at a later date....being that I do not live in Virginia. This guy ignored the best interests of a paying client. YOU .....broke the deal.

As is unfortunately all too common these days, this is a completely false review. Of course the fact that it is "anonymous," makes that pretty obvious now. I have never represented this person, and no such scenario has ever happened. If my client objects to a continuance, that position is asserted to the Court. The fact is Courts often grant continuance requests from the opposing party, EVEN IF the other party objects to them. And, frankly, if the issue happened to be a personal crisis, family emergency, health situation, etc., from the opposing counsel, 99% of the time that is a continuance request the Judge is going to grant, regardless of whether the other side objects. But again, this is a false review from someone I have never represented.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
