James Brian Slaughter

For nearly twenty years, I have worked in just about every aspect of workers’ compensation. 

I started out in a general law practice, representing injured workers in both state and Federal workers’ compensation cases in the state of Alabama. Returning home, I served the Commonwealth of Virginia for a number of years as a Staff Attorney at the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission. In that role, I wrote over 600 Review Opinions for the Commission, served as a mediator in over 100 matters successfully resolved by full and final settlement and served as the Commission Editor of the publication, The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act, Annotated, 2002 and 2003 Editions. Thereafter, for over a decade, I represented employers and insurers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims. I have been a frequent speaker at workers’ compensation seminars across Virginia. 

I now bring this wealth of experience to bear to help injured workers throughout Tidewater and Hampton Roads.
