Jessica N. Trotman

For Attorney Jessica N. Trotman, a clerkship with the Norfolk Circuit Court presented a unique opportunity to learn about areas of the law she was interested in specializing in.

Family law caught her attention.

During her one-year clerkship, Jessica assisted pro se litigants with uncontested divorces, performed extensive legal research and writing for the Circuit Court judges, and observed countless domestic relations cases.

Jessica hails from Long Island, N.Y., where she played soccer, basketball, and ran track in high school. Jessica has a diverse background including a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Delaware and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Molloy College in Long Island, N.Y. After working in the legal department for an insurance company, Jessica headed to Hampton Roads to attend Regent University School of Law as an honors student.

During law school, Jessica excelled academically and graduated near the top of her class. To ensure she received a well-rounded, legal education, Jessica pursued several internships including serving as a judicial intern for the Honorable Raymond A. Jackson in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Norfolk and the Suffolk City Attorney’s Office. As a third-year law student, Jessica prosecuted domestic violence cases in the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court for the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. Her hard work, dedication, and academic success paid off as she was the first ever Regent Law student to secure a clerkship with the Norfolk Circuit Court.
