A Diamond in the Sea of Chaos

Mr. John "Jack" Gately was hired by my husband to take on a very complex, multifaceted military medical retirement case. After dealing with several family law attorneys in Illinois; my husband proceeded with caution when sifting through various military medical lawyers. With a combined total of 25 y...ears of military experience in our household; it is very difficult to find someone that is 1. a Veteran 2. has the background and education to manipulate this very complex system and process. Mr. Gately has been in the game for several years; his no-nonsense approach is something that we appreciated immediately. He works hard to review thousands of documents, like a brain surgeon; he picks out the most important pieces to put it all together. It is really unfortunate that the VA does not provide lawyers of his caliber and candor. Service Member's generally cannot afford the fee associated with this process (Civilian Attorney) $7000.00-$10000.00. It is a GRAVE mistake not hiring an attorney like Mr. Gately to represent you on something that effects the rest of your life (Retirement and VA disability). It is easy to get frustrated, want to give up, and not want to trust someone with all of this confidential and difficult information; Mr. Gately has a caring disposition that allows you to have full confidence that he UNDERSTANDS this process, UNDERSTANDS YOU, and for a change you feel HEARD. He guides you through every single step, informs you of what the best course of action will be, and dedicates several late hours to call you when it is convenient for you. If you are looking for no bull, no non-sense, and someone who will work tirelessly for you; this is your attorney.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2017.

Reciprocal - Public Reprimand/Admonishment issued in MA, 2017

updated on 01/20/2022

This means that the attorney's misconduct in another state, or jurisdiction, also violated the rules for practicing law in Massachusetts.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals.
