Don't go it alone! Call Doug McGee.

If you have been charged with a traffic offense while traveling through the State of Virginia, I implore you not to go it alone. While driving from Tennessee to New Jersey, I lost track of my speed on Rt 81 in Virginia. I was pulled over by a police officer who gave me a speeding ticket, I thought. W...hen I got home and looked up the details, it was a shock to realize I did not get a ticket – I had been issued a criminal summons. I was in a panic. To my great fortune, I was introduced to Douglas McGee, Attorney at Law, who agreed to take on my case and help me formulate a response to the Municipal Court. Doug quickly had the court date rescheduled so I could gather information and take certain steps to prepare for my case that would go before a Judge. Doug provided detailed instructions about how to prepare and I followed them. I sent all the information to Doug who represented me on the day my case was scheduled. He went to Court, spoke with the officer who issued my summons, and presented my case to the Judge. The result was better than I could have hoped for. Reduction of Reckless Driving and Criminal Misdemeanor

In April of 2024, I was the unfortunate recipient of a Reckless Driving charge for speeding on the interstate while traveling from South Carolina back home to Canada. Unaware of the severity of driving penalties under Virginia state law, I was surprised to learn of the penalty for this charge and the... summons to return to Smyth County court. After doing research and consulting with several Smyth County law offices, I had the pleasure of getting in contact with Doug McGee and I couldn't be happier with the entire outcome. Doug was personable and easy to contact throughout the whole process from initial consultation to the final trial date. He was professional, realistic, and most importantly reassuring - providing sound advice for what steps to take to help my case. As an international driver, Doug worked with me to make sure we got the best results out of the obstacles that were faced and I would recommend him to anybody in a similar situation. Cannot say enough to thank him, and as I said when he relayed my verdict "I'd love to meet you and talk again, but I hope I never have to!" Thanks Doug!

Best lawyer ever

Douglas was absolutely amazing to work with! He thoroughly explained and communicated every step throughout the entire process, replied quickly, and kindly answered all of my questions and concerns. I did all of the suggestions he recommended I complete before my court date and he was able to bring ...my speeding misdemeanor all the way down to faulty equipment! Hopefully I never need a lawyer in VA again, but if I do he is definitely the one I’m going to!

Excellent representation and best possible outcome

I hired Doug, after being involved in a car accident and being charged with reckless driving in VA. Doug was the only attorney that I spoke to that spent time with me and explained to me over the phone the process, why I got charged and what are the next steps with detail. Even during the initial... consultation, he took the time to speak to me and allowed me to ask any questions I had, without feeling rushed. He didn't try to scare me as some other attorneys/paralegals did, but explained to me what the possible outcomes could be in my case (and not just scare me about jail time). Since my case was unique, in the nature that I caused the accident when my car hydroplaned, I wanted to have a more personalized representation and not being bundled with a bunch of other cases and Doug offered that. He asked me for all the required documentation and made recommendations on things to do before the court and was in continuous communication with me and gave me feedback on the documents and information that I provided. He was able to compile everything, build my profile and present it to the court. I was honestly expecting as a best-case scenario, since I caused the accident, for the ticket to be reduced to a lesser offense, but he was able to completely dismiss it. I cannot recommend Doug highly enough and even if my case hadn't been dismissed, I would have still given him 5 stars, as my experience has been excellent throughout the process.

Excellent Service

My daughter was rear-ended and then issued a ticket by the attending trooper. Doug showed up for her, as she couldn't be present in court, and got the ticket dropped. We could not be more pleased with the result. But as importantly, Doug's professionalism, and diligence in responding to us leading up... to court, and after, was just outstanding. Highly recommend.
