The Best Choice I Could Have Made in a Stressful Time

When this whole situation first began, I was scared and overwhelmed. The uncertainty of not knowing what would happen weighed heavily, and one of the most stressful parts was figuring out how to choose the right lawyer. We wanted someone with strong recommendations, someone we could trust, but also s...omeone who understood the importance of working within our budget. That balance felt nearly impossible to find at first. In the end, the overall cost came to about $2,000, which included not only Doug’s fee, but also car reports, two required classes, and the extra expenses of gas from volunteering and traveling back and forth to court. For such a difficult and draining experience, knowing that we were able to afford quality representation without being crushed financially was a huge relief. What truly stood out, though, was Doug’s character. From the very beginning, he was calm, kind, and reassuring — exactly what I needed in such a stressful time. He was patient as I asked what felt like 101 questions before signing on the dotted line, and instead of making me feel like a burden, he answered each one with care, honesty, and full transparency. That level of forthrightness was refreshing, and it built trust from the start. Throughout the entire process, Doug’s professionalism was matched by his humanity. He was not only thorough and knowledgeable, but also compassionate and understanding. His calm demeanor gave me peace of mind, and his guidance helped me navigate what could have been an overwhelming experience. Although this situation was unfortunate, meeting and working with Doug was not. I hope I never have to go through something like this again, but if I do, I know how fortunate I would be to have him by my side.

Mr McGee did a phenomenal job with my dui, he had it reduced to a wreck less driving against all odds. he is a tenacious attorney in every since of the word. I cannot express my appreciation, he was amazing.

Outstanding lawyer!

Doug was very honest with me from the moment I hired him. Being out of state and having a previous DUI charge was two of my biggest worries, but I didn’t have any doubts. Great DWI/DUI and criminal defense attorney. I highly recommend!

I highly recommend Douglas McGee, if you stop reading now and hire him you will not be disappointed. I had a really bad night and made some very irresponsible choices which left me charged with Driving while intoxicated (1st Offense, elevated BAC of 0.20), Hit and Run and FELONY Grand Larceny. I ha...ve a very good job with high level security clearances, which were in jeopardy with these pending charges. I started googling best DUI lawyers in Virginia and other similar searches and came upon reviews for Mr. McGee. When I first reached out to him, he was out of town on business (I believe) but he made time to talk to me and told me that I should forward all of my case documentation to him for review and he would be in touch. I talked to multiple lawyers over the course of a week, some of whom wanted me to retain them ASAP. After reading the reviews, I wanted to at least talk to him before I made my decision, and I am glad that I did. What they say is true, he is very knowledgeable and is a straight forward person. From the beginning, he made no promises and I knew the best and worst case scenarios for my legal issues, and everything in between. He told me exactly what I should do to try and help my case (Driver Improvement Clinics, etc) and what he was going to do to see if there were any mistakes or holes in the prosecutions case and what my options going forward would be. With the corona virus causing delays in the court system, my trial was over three months after my arrest date and I could not return to work until the felony charge was resolved. The county that I was charged in, has a commonwealth attorney that is less than adequate when it comes to communications on upcoming cases and doesn’t seem to look at most cases until the day before the court date. Numerous phone calls and emails to her were left unanswered and disregarded. As my court date approached, a resolution wasn’t looking probable and I was facing more unpaid leave from work. Nevertheless, Mr. McGee was resilient, and in the end persevered and was able to arrange a plea agreement on my court date. I plead guilty to the DWI/ DUI, the hit and run was dismissed and the felony grand larceny was reduced to a misdemeanor trespassing charge! I served the bare minimum jail time for the charges, with the bare minimum restrictions for this DUI. Even after his retention (our contract time) had ended, he would answer my calls and give his advice. I’m not sure what has brought to here to this review, but if you are facing a DUI or any other similar charges, do yourself a favor and give Douglas McGee a call. You will be glad you did.

1st offense DUI dropped to a reckless

Highly recommend, very good lawyer. I was facing jail time and a DUI. I was almost late for my hearing by the time I got there I just walked straight up front in front of the judge. Doug whispered to me and said I got everything dropped to a reckless driving and some community service.
