Great DWI/DUI and criminal defense attorney. I highly recommend!

I highly recommend Douglas McGee, if you stop reading now and hire him you will not be disappointed. I had a really bad night and made some very irresponsible choices which left me charged with Driving while intoxicated (1st Offense, elevated BAC of 0.20), Hit and Run and FELONY Grand Larceny. I ha...ve a very good job with high level security clearances, which were in jeopardy with these pending charges. I started googling best DUI lawyers in Virginia and other similar searches and came upon reviews for Mr. McGee. When I first reached out to him, he was out of town on business (I believe) but he made time to talk to me and told me that I should forward all of my case documentation to him for review and he would be in touch. I talked to multiple lawyers over the course of a week, some of whom wanted me to retain them ASAP. After reading the reviews, I wanted to at least talk to him before I made my decision, and I am glad that I did. What they say is true, he is very knowledgeable and is a straight forward person. From the beginning, he made no promises and I knew the best and worst case scenarios for my legal issues, and everything in between. He told me exactly what I should do to try and help my case (Driver Improvement Clinics, etc) and what he was going to do to see if there were any mistakes or holes in the prosecutions case and what my options going forward would be. With the corona virus causing delays in the court system, my trial was over three months after my arrest date and I could not return to work until the felony charge was resolved. The county that I was charged in, has a commonwealth attorney that is less than adequate when it comes to communications on upcoming cases and doesn’t seem to look at most cases until the day before the court date. Numerous phone calls and emails to her were left unanswered and disregarded. As my court date approached, a resolution wasn’t looking probable and I was facing more unpaid leave from work. Nevertheless, Mr. McGee was resilient, and in the end persevered and was able to arrange a plea agreement on my court date. I plead guilty to the DWI/ DUI, the hit and run was dismissed and the felony grand larceny was reduced to a misdemeanor trespassing charge! I served the bare minimum jail time for the charges, with the bare minimum restrictions for this DUI. Even after his retention (our contract time) had ended, he would answer my calls and give his advice. I’m not sure what has brought to here to this review, but if you are facing a DUI or any other similar charges, do yourself a favor and give Douglas McGee a call. You will be glad you did.

Knowledgeable and patient.

I had a wreckless driving charge out in Shenandoah County it was my first offence that severe and I was very nervous about the outcome. I contacted several lawyers and Doug was the most prompt and professional that I delt with. He was highly competent and knew the Shenandoah area and its laws well. H...e made time for my MANY questions and concerns and while the answers where not always the most comforting they were well informed and honest. In the end he got my wreckless ticket bumped down to a significantly less severe charge. The judge that tried my case literally said I was lucky to have him as my lawyer. Follow his instructions and I'm sure he'll do his best for you.

Wreckless driving charge dismissed!!

I received a wreckless driving charge after I rear ended someone and after reaching out to a few firms Doug was the first person that actually explained the process and made me feel important. Through out the entire process he was very transparent and thorough! Leading up to my court date he explaine...d possible out comes and what I needed to do to mitigate them. During the hearing he was on it and made sure I knew exactly what was going on (this was my first time going to court ever). —-The hearing ended with the judge dismissing the case. —-post hearing we sat down and he explained everything that just happened and what to expect next. He was up front and honest the entire time!!

Dui/refusal to blow & a reckless driving ticket

All charges were dropped to a reckless and community service, and I kept my license with not restrictions, which was really outstanding. He had a me do a lot of homework but it allowed him to understand me and my situation and background and used that to form the best case he could and he did a ...spectacular job. Hire Doug, but make sure to give him detailed homework because it really helps and he’s a kind and caring person who does his job exceedingly well.

Reckless Driving dismissed with no charges.

Hired Doug Mcgee to represent me in a reckless driving charge I picked up after hydroplaining into a guard rail while getting off at an exit. Doug walked me through the process of how everything would go down. Had me provide lots of documentation highlighting my character, extended training, certific...ations for my job and volunteer work I provide for my community. Doug discussed with the Prosecutor and got them to agree to press for a lesser charge while still pleading not guilty. Doug showed the discrepancies behind the accident, the quality my character and the steps I had already taken to make sure damages were covered, that I had completed a reckless driving class ahead of the trial and done everything I could to make this right. In the end the judge declared, "it was a very rare day" that he'd dismissed the charges. No cost. Thank you your hard work. I would gladly have you represent me again.
