Great DWI/DUI and criminal defense attorney. I highly recommend!

I highly recommend Douglas McGee, if you stop reading now and hire him you will not be disappointed. I had a really bad night and made some very irresponsible choices which left me charged with Driving while intoxicated (1st Offense, elevated BAC of 0.20), Hit and Run and FELONY Grand Larceny. I ha...ve a very good job with high level security clearances, which were in jeopardy with these pending charges. I started googling best DUI lawyers in Virginia and other similar searches and came upon reviews for Mr. McGee. When I first reached out to him, he was out of town on business (I believe) but he made time to talk to me and told me that I should forward all of my case documentation to him for review and he would be in touch. I talked to multiple lawyers over the course of a week, some of whom wanted me to retain them ASAP. After reading the reviews, I wanted to at least talk to him before I made my decision, and I am glad that I did. What they say is true, he is very knowledgeable and is a straight forward person. From the beginning, he made no promises and I knew the best and worst case scenarios for my legal issues, and everything in between. He told me exactly what I should do to try and help my case (Driver Improvement Clinics, etc) and what he was going to do to see if there were any mistakes or holes in the prosecutions case and what my options going forward would be. With the corona virus causing delays in the court system, my trial was over three months after my arrest date and I could not return to work until the felony charge was resolved. The county that I was charged in, has a commonwealth attorney that is less than adequate when it comes to communications on upcoming cases and doesn’t seem to look at most cases until the day before the court date. Numerous phone calls and emails to her were left unanswered and disregarded. As my court date approached, a resolution wasn’t looking probable and I was facing more unpaid leave from work. Nevertheless, Mr. McGee was resilient, and in the end persevered and was able to arrange a plea agreement on my court date. I plead guilty to the DWI/ DUI, the hit and run was dismissed and the felony grand larceny was reduced to a misdemeanor trespassing charge! I served the bare minimum jail time for the charges, with the bare minimum restrictions for this DUI. Even after his retention (our contract time) had ended, he would answer my calls and give his advice. I’m not sure what has brought to here to this review, but if you are facing a DUI or any other similar charges, do yourself a favor and give Douglas McGee a call. You will be glad you did.

Excellent Attention!!

I was coming from my vacation from NC to CT and I was stopped for doing 88 in a 70 zone. I had no idea it is considered Reckless Driving in Virginia. I called few law firms and I did not get much info besides how much their fees were even after having a consultation with them. Doug McGee was the only... attorney who I contacted who explained the process to me and took the time to reassure me I was in good hands. He was with me each step of the way. Any questions or concerns I had he was there to answer them. If anybody else is having an issue like this I 100% recommend Doug McGee. He made the process easily and the money you will be paying him isn't anything compared to the consequences you would face if convicted.

Look no further than Doug

Receiving a reckless driving ticket, I was in search for a lawyer. With concerns of this being considered a felony it was important to find the right person to handle this case. During the consultation Doug was transparent sharing the severity of the charge and his recommended actions. I was impresse...d because he called the same evening as the request to be contacted was made. Throughout the entire process he kept his word, following up as promised even with his busy schedule. The plan of action he outlined we followed to a tee. He was able to arrange a plea to a speeding of 20 over the speed limit, fine plus court costs. This was way better than the 12 months of jail time and a criminal record.

Successfully reduced speeding charge

Driving through VA on the way to Florida, I was pulled over and given a speeding ticket. Upon researching, I found that it was actually a charge for Reckless Driving, which is a misdemeanor. I immediately called a few lawyers that looked reputable. Doug called me back that same day and walked me thro...ugh the process. If you ever get a ticket in the area, you will receive TONS of solicitations from lawyers in the area. Doug never gave off that "salesy" vibe which was much appreciated. He seemed knowledgable and experienced - and I did everything he suggested. On the date of my hearing, Doug called with good news - the charge was reduced to a non-moving violation. I would recommend Doug McGee to anyone in need of an attorney in the area.

My Experience with Doug

Recently I found myself in a situation where a lawyer would be very convenient. I was charged with reckless driving in Virginia and was not going to be able to stand in for the court date due to being sent out of the area for training. After browsing a few websites I came across one and made a few ca...lls leading me to Doug. Him and I had a pleasant conversation discussing what had happened. Due to being military he told me what options I had and what documents I should send him, and after discussing a few more things I stated that I was interested in hiring him. He was very understanding and respectful to me despite my age and inexperience with matters such as these and helped me understand more of the legality behind it all. After hiring him he consistently stayed in touch with me and provided me useful updates pertaining to my case. In the end he was even able to get my case dismissed. Overall I would say that my experience with him was great. He was respectful, understanding, informative, and nothing less than a great lawyer to hire.
