I represent employees. Executives negotiating an exit, professionals pushed out after reporting misconduct, and people trying to get out from under a non-compete. My work covers discrimination and retaliation claims under Title VII, the ADA, and the ADEA, along with FMLA, wage and hour, and whistleblower matters.

For eight years I was a partner at McGuireWoods defending employers in these same cases. That experience is the most useful thing I bring: I know how the other side values a claim, where it is vulnerable, and what it takes to move it. Before that I served as a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

I also counsel companies on their obligations under these statutes and the NLRA, and I conduct internal investigations. Restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes run through the practice on both sides.

I clerked for Chief Judge Edward E. Carnes of the Eleventh Circuit and for Judge Orinda D. Evans of the Northern District of Georgia. I am admitted in Virginia and Georgia and appear regularly in federal court in both.
