Excellent Work

Mr. Clarke handled an employment issue for me and was very helpful. He met with all parties and was extremely professional in working with everyone. The outcome was positive for all parties.

Disbarment issued in SC, 1986

updated on 05/11/2017

Disbarment is the most serious penalty for a lawyer. If a disbarred lawyer is practicing law, you should check with the state to make sure he or she is currently licensed.

David’s comment:

“Thirty years two years ago, my very poor judgment allowed me to become part of a "sting". I accepted a "plea deal" and went to prison in Georgia. I served one year, followed by nine years of probation and parole.”

Public Reprimand issued in SC, 1985

updated on 05/11/2017

Public reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.

David’s comment:

“Panel that heard the case voted 3 to 0 that I did nothing wrong. The committee supported that 3 to 2. The client changed addresses several times and failed to keep me current. She showed up after the statute of limitations. I settled her claim.”

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline
