I practice law with my husband, and partner, Michael Winget-Hernandez at our office located in Zion Crossroads, Virginia which is just east of Charlottesville, Virginia. Prior to opening our law practice, I worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) in Richmond, Virginia for almost seven years. My practice at the OAG was focused on complex multi-state and federal civil litigation. I was lead litigation counsel for the Commonwealth of Virginia for two cases in 2013 which resulted in some of the largest recoveries of Virginia taxpayer dollars: Virginia v. McKesson ($33 million settlement) and In re Johnson & Johnson ($21 million settlement).
My husband and I became lawyers because we want to help people. Our law practice is focused on supporting our community - whether it be drafting a will or contract, defending a speeding ticket or other minor criminal violation, or representing a small business or an employee in employment dispute.
Our experience in complex corporate fraud investigations and complex civil litigation, positions us to conduct internal investigations or serve as litigation counsel for corporate clients.
My most important work is raising my two teenage children, Zach and Madeleine. I also enjoy practicing and teaching yoga every chance I get.

Professional and Personable
As a young adult in my mid-twenties, I never expected to need a lawyer. Unfortunately the unexpected happens, and my world was shaken upside down. Fortunately, Lelia Winget-Hernandez was there to help me pick up the pieces. I was very overwhelmed with the legal world and the specifics of my case, and...
"Having worked closely with Lelia for almost three years, I unconditionally endorse her. She is extremely capable, hard working and determined to provide helpful services. She is one of the best attorneys with whom I have had the pleasure of working."
