also known as Matt Bass
Matthew E. “Matt” Bass began his legal career over a decade ago in the trenches of criminal/traffic courts throughout Northern Virginia. Over time, his practice grew to encompass a variety of cases, including landlord-tenant, contracts, debt defense, creditor’s rights, family law, and personal injury practice.
In 2017, Matt joined a renowned Northern Virginia injury firm and shifted his focus to solely helping victims of serious personal injury, handling scores of cases that together resulted in millions worth of financial recovery for his clients.
Matt recognizes and operates on the basis that each client and case is unique. Therefore, every client deserves individualized care and attention, customized to fit their circumstances. Whether they face a lengthy recovery from serious injury or serious criminal felony charges, Matt seeks to understand his clients and their needs, communicate effectively with them from day one, and guide them to the best possible outcome.
A native of nearby Clarke County, Virginia, Matt graduated from the University of Virginia in 2006 with degrees in anthropology and archaeology. In 2012, Matt received his Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia’s David A. Clarke School of Law, graduating summa cum laude, at the top of his class.
Outside the practice of law, Matt has a broad range of interests. He is an avid sports fan who enjoys watching, playing, coaching his kids, and debating the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. He also enjoys songwriting, producing, and recording music as a hobby – both his father and twin brother are classically-trained professional musicians. More recently, Matt has published a series of children’s books and taken to writing articles for his local newspaper.
Though entertained by his numerous hobbies, Matt is equally dedicated to serving his community. Since 2016, he has served on multiple committees and commissions in Clarke County, and he was elected as the Berryville representative to the Clarke County Board of Supervisors in 2020.
Matt, his wife, and their two children enjoy spending time with their dog, family, and friends in the fields, hills, and valleys where the Shenandoah River runs under the Blue Ridge Mountains.
