The Best

Just simply did the job and did it well. I got custody of my kids, and he charged me half of what my ex's lawyer did.

Quick & Professional

He removed the stress for me and really wrapped my whole case up quickly and professionally. I would definitely send anyone I know in Virginia to him

Honest Advice & Accurate Assesment

Mr. Waldman reviewed my case after my first lawyer really put me in a bind. He was honest with the problems I was going to face. In the end, the result he told me was most likely, was almost exactly what the judge ordered in my divorce. He told what the process was, what was going to happen, and i...t did.

Do not use him

He does not return emails/phone calls. He is not prepared, is disoriented and did not keep me informed of my case. He never appeared to know anything about me or my case. I fired him.

Unfortunately, this individual has made these similar complaints about three different attorneys in relation to the same matter.

Same quality of a free representation lawyer

It makes me sick to my stomach that I paid him to insult me. I paid for an hour consultation (which by the way, I only got 40 minutes of, before he decided the consult was over.) I had two cases that I was looking to be represented in, one for custody, and one for child support. (They were in separat...e counties) The one for child support, was a little complicated. I had an old order, that had been closed, but there were still arrears on it. He couldn't give a projection on whether it would be likely or unlikely that I would be able to collect it. There is a calculator guideline that is used to calculate child support in most cases, and I understand that. But the father was asking for deviation (lowered) amount. It seemed like Barry had nothing to say regarding that, just kept mentioning the calculator. Then he straight up told me he would not represent me for the child custody one, because of WHERE it was located. So I asked for legal advice on it, since I paid for the consultation, and had time left- I might as well at least get advice if nothing else. He wouldn't even do that. Bottom line: He couldn't give a projected outcome. He never referenced laws statues. He didn't seem confident in representation. He was rude. He was not knowledgeable about child support deviation. He had no personality, and seemed like he hated his job. No spark about him at all. He seemed like he just goes with the flow, not caring if he wins or loses- no fight in him at all. I set up a consultation with another lawyer, who I have attained. She seemed very eager to help me, and very knowledgeable about family law. She quoted statues that would be used to determine the custody case. She also stated that by law, I would be able to collect any arrears- something Barry had no clue about. Shes also very professional, and confident in litigation-- unlike Barry. If I'm paying $350/hr, I expect them to fight for me- which is exactly what my new lawyer is doing.

Sometimes a lawyer chooses, for a variety of reasons, not to represent a particular individual. Although I do not turn down the opportunity to represent a potential client often, in this case I chose to do so. I never actually represented this individual, and explained at the beginning of the consultation that I would not be able to represent her in reference to a matter that was further than I choose to travel for court appearances. I offered to refund her consultation fee prior to meeting with her, once I realized her matter would require appearance in a court that was beyond my region. She insisted on meeting. She was not, in fact, ever a client, even though she has sought to post this same review on three separate occasions. I am pleased that she was able to find representation where her matter was pending that apparently was to her liking. I hope she obtained the result she wanted to achieve.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
