Don’t ever take a plea when you know you’re innocent you will regret it for the rest of your life.
He let the district attorney convince him that I was a drug addict, even though I’ve never had a drug charge in my entire life. I was extremely disappointed that nobody would fight my .03 DUI case properly. I guess when you live in Stafford County Virginia justice does not exist. They dragged my case... on for two years claiming they had found drug paraphernalia in my work van, even though I assured them, it was not anything drug related. Still they took things that they never properly identified to me and sent them for drug analysis. They told me to take a plea before the drug analysis was complete to reduce the charge from a drug charge just to a paraphernalia charge!!! I told them to please go ahead and test whatever it is that they found and that I was never going to take a plea. The next time I came back to Court. They said that the tests came back negative, of course, but still proceeded to tell me that they had more evidence to test and to go ahead and take the plea again.. I told them for the second time that I would not,and I would be fighting this to the very end. At that point, I only had a court appointed lawyer who had done pretty well for me exposing that they never even gave a chance for me to get my car towed. They just impounded it and gave me no choice which was illegal. that was the last time I was going to see that Lawyer. I think they took her off the case because she was doing a good job.they then again told me that they would send off the rest of the evidence for drug analysis if I didn’t take the plea for the second time. When I came back to Court the next time they told me again that the drug analysis came back negative. At that point, I was extremely relieved that they weren’t planting any evidence on me but at the same time they still wanted me to accept the DUI charges for the .03. At this point they had given me my second quarter appointed Lawyer who continually told me just to take a plea even though I was completely innocent! I told him that I would be hiring a lawyer for myself and to tell the judge that when we went in front of him. I found Adam on the Internet and thought we had the same name so maybe it was meant to be. Unfortunately, I was very wrong.. despite there being absolutely no evidence against me he assured me that my best bet was to take a plea and I thought to myself, why did I even hire you? He didn’t do any work for me at all, even though he watched the entire interaction between the police and me on body camera.. when I finally met up with him to go in front of the judge for the first time the first thing he did when I met him in person was call me a drug addict??? my heart sank and I knew I was completely screwed at that point. I’ve literally never had a drug charge in my entire life, besides a possession of marijuana when I was like 19 years old. I should’ve fired him as soon as the words came out of his mouth.. It’s one of my biggest regrets in life.
