Christopher Amolsch is a nationally recognized Virginia criminal defense lawyer providing expert, aggressive and innovative representation in all federal and state criminal matters in both federal and state courts and in federal courts throughout the United States.
I graduated magna cum laude from George Mason University and was a scholarship student at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia, which is consistently ranked as one of the top 25 law programs in the country. After law school, I worked in Tennessee handling death penalty appeals in both federal and state courts before returning to the Washington, DC area.
I have handled many high profile cases which have been covered by numerous national newspapers. I also appear regularly as an expert legal commentator on many national television programs, including Larry King, Nancy Grace, Court TV, CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News.
I am also a founder and past Vice President of Washington, DC's Innocence Project. As Vice President for the Innocence Project, I testified before the Virginia General Assembly on the causes of wrongful convictions and was actively involved in crafting Virginia's innocence protection legislation. I filed the first claim of actual innocence ever considered under Virginia's new DNA statute and continue to represent clients seeking exoneration through Virginia's Writ of Actual Innocence and through federal and state habeas petitions.
In addition to my trial and appellate work, I sit on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and am active member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the preeminent organizations in Virginia and the United States advancing the mission of the nation's criminal defense lawyers.

Made us feel comfortable
We found ourselves dealing with a serious issue with our child doing something very stupid. Kids make mistakes and do dumb things. Just as ours was getting ready to head off to college - the kid did what kids do and got caught. Serious offense and the potential to really ruin the rest of his/her life...

Thank You!
Chris is an excellent lawyer and I would highly recommend him. He was able to get my charges lessened and his style and approach reduced the stress of a difficult situation by providing step by step guidance in the process of dealing with the nuances of the legal system.

Dwi charge
I could not have asked or had a better lawyer. Mr. Amolsch was honest and communicated with me throughout my entire process. He explained my options and didn't tell me what to do but informed me of the choices I had and suggested things but he let me be in control. He worked with me and was always on...

Saved my life (my job, my car, etc)!!!
I am going to begin by stating the facts first. I was facing serious DWI charges from the US Attorney's office after my arrest on GW Parkway (federal). I was clocked doing 106 in a 55, blew a .14 BAC, and rear ended a Park Police cruiser. As I was frantic and shopped around for lawyers the next wee...

Chris is who you want in your corner!
I was charged with simple possession of marijuana up to an ounce. As a first time offender I was facing a likely proposition 251 sentence where I would be placed on probation, lose my driving privileges, pay a hefty fine, etc. Basically a 6 month long headache. Chris worked his magic and somehow ma...
"I endorse Christopher. He is a highly skilled attorney that is well respected in the legal community."
"I highly recommend Chris to anyone facing criminal charges in Virginia. He and I worked on a matter involving a client charged with 2 felony counts which could have impacted the client in other respects in a horrific way. Chris got both felony counts reduced to one minor misdemeanor with no jail time with no further impact. Talk about impressive!! I know who I am turning to when looking for associate counsel in Virginia criminal matters... : )"
"Chris Amolsch is a smart, compassionate, and extremely capable trial lawyer. He has a thorough and practical understanding of how to handle matters, approach courts, and professionally represent his clients' interests."
"Mr. Amolsch operates with the highest level of professionalism and has built a strong reputation in the community. He has earned valuable experience in a wide range of defense matters - from mortgage fraud to federal/state crimes - and is an attorney who is well-respected on both sides of the table. He is focused, diligent and knowledgeable in his legal practice and has proven himself to be a very skilled and successful advocate for his clients in trial. I would recommend him to anyone that needs representation."
