I am writing to document my concern regarding the consultation I received through the lawyer referral service. I paid for a guaranteed 30-minute consultation. However, the attorney asked only two brief questions and then declined the matter without explanation, legal insight, or even general guida...nce. The call ended almost immediately, and the substance of the consultation did not reflect the time or professional engagement that was represented as part of the service. I fully understand that attorneys may decline representation. My concern is not the decision itself, but the lack of meaningful consultation, absence of professional courtesy in explaining the basis for the decision, and failure to provide even minimal directional input that would justify the structure and cost of the referral appointment. A referral consultation implies a good-faith review and a professional exchange, even if representation is not offered. That did not occur here. I believe this fell below reasonable expectations for a paid legal consultation and does not reflect well on the referral program.
