Biography
Mr. O'Malie was born in Mexico City, Mexico, D.F. in 1961 and speaks English and Spanish. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Old Dominion University in 1983, and his Juris Doctor Degree from George Mason University School of Law in 1987 where he received the American Jurisprudence Award in the study of Professional Responsibility. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Virginia, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. the United States Court of Appeals (4th Circuit), and the United States Virgin Islands.
Mr. O'Malie is or has been a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Hispanic Bar Association of Virginia, the Fairfax Bar Association, the U.S. Virgin Islands Bar Association, and the Arlington Country Bar Association where he served as a member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Criminal Justice Committee, on the Judicial Selection Committee, and on the Judicial Selection Committee Task Force.
Mr. O'Malie is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, is listed in Virginia's Top Rated Lawyers and also SuperLawyers. He is also a former Master of the Bench member of the George Mason American Inns of Court. Mr. O'Malie has extensive jury and bench trial experience having served as sole or lead counsel in a wide variety of cases, including but not limited to, serious personal injuries, wrongful death, medical and legal malpractice, general civil and commercial litigation, domestic relations litigation, and criminal cases including murder, rape, robbery, abduction, malicious woundings, lynching by mob, drug offenses, serious traffic offenses, and other cases too numerous to list. In addition to his courtroom experience, Mr. O'Malie is equally adept at resolving legal issues through out of court alternate dispute resolution procedures such as arbitration and mediation.
