John Francis Carroll

John Carroll charged me a retainer in excess of $4,000 upon our first meeting. He promised me the world in terms of getting my charges thrown out to the extent that he encouraged me not to show up for my court date because he was so certain my case would be either delayed or thrown out. On the day I ...went before he judge he was unprepared and unprofessional -- without warning or explanation he advised me to take a guilty plea, which we had never previously discussed. In the aftermath of the case, I had questions regarding the specific restrictions of my sentence and if he could assist me in providing me with the appropriate counsel to best meet the expectations of the court and my probation officer. He failed to return numerous calls and emails, and the only further correspondence I received was a receipt for the retainer I had paid up front and a letter notifying me that his office considered all services to be fully rendered. I have never met a single other individual that had such little professional responsibility, personal integrity, or basic decency to provide the bare minimum level of preparation and effort. I apologize to any individuals who have had different experiences and hope that mine was a fluke of some kind, but I would not recommend John Carroll to any individual seeking legal counsel for any reason.
