Alex Robert Heidt

Alex Heidt is the founder of The Heidt Law Firm, PLLC and Heidt Strategic Advisors, serving clients across Northern Virginia, the DC Metro area, and nationally from his office in Fairfax, Virginia. He brings a background that is virtually unique in private legal practice: more than 25 years as a senior executive at three of America's largest defense contractors, followed by a legal and advisory career built on that same firsthand experience.

Before founding the Heidt Law Firm, Alex held senior leadership roles at Lockheed Martin Corporation, Harris Corporation, and Alion Science and Technology Corporation. At Lockheed Martin — the nation's largest defense contractor — he served as Director of Contracts and Business Strategy and Vice President of International IT, overseeing a nearly $5 billion annual contracts department and directing classified programs across Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Liberia, and Australia. He managed a P&L as large as $500 million in annual revenue. At Harris Corporation, he served as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Air Force programs. At Alion Science and Technology, he served as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Navy programs.

Over his executive career, Alex negotiated more than $12 billion in contracts with the U.S. federal government, the United Nations, and foreign nations. He negotiated an emergency contract with the United Nations for humanitarian base camps in Darfur and recovered full payment within 24 hours after three years of non-payment. He recovered more than $15 million from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory within 24 hours of arrival. He won Lockheed Martin's first-ever contract in Australia — a $1 billion IT services award — beating the three largest local competitors combined. When a major Lockheed contract in Afghanistan faced termination, he flew to forward operating bases, met with in-country government executives, and earned a $50 million task order — with the customer citing his ability to "act at the speed of war." He was personally recognized by President George W. Bush and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for his role in reestablishing commercial air travel between the United States and Liberia.

Alex earned his Juris Doctorate from the Columbus College of Law at The Catholic University of America and his Master of Arts in Finance from The Catholic University of America. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Strayer University. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar. In 2026, he was recognized by Best Lawyers® and Best Law Firms® for the DC Metro area in the field of Estates. He has also been recognized by Lawyers of Distinction (2017–2026) and Elite Lawyers (2021–2026) in Corporate Law.

The Heidt Law Firm, PLLC provides legal counsel in business law, government contracts law, 8(a) and tribal entity law — including Native American and Native Hawaiian Organization contracting — corporate law and M&A, contract law, government law, estate planning and wills, estate litigation, and appeals before the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
