Our first meeting with Andrea Ross was at a pro bono office where she volunteered her services. After talking with her for a few minutes, she told us we didn't qualify for pro bono as we had assets. It is no surprise th...at I met Andie at a pro bono legal facility. That, in itself, tells you something about her and her volunteer outreach in the community. In fact, the day I wrote this review I read that she is slated to receive the Distinguished Pro Bono Volunteer Award, recognizing her work above and beyond the average commitment by an attorney. I'd say way above and beyond., Andie put me at ease immediately, explaining the various methods for relieving my smothering debt load. Going biefly off-scrip, she talked about her neighborhood bakery in Chestertown and said that their Nutella Latte would "change my life." Then back to our original discussion she detailed the legal options open to me under the new, complicated Bankruptcy Code, translating baffling legal jargon to simple everyday language. She ultimately recommended that I prusue the Chapter Seven option, telling me that the completion of this process would also "change my life." Well, she was right on both counts. At our first session, we went over everything I would need to file and given what she called "homework." That meant putting together all of my debts and expenses. A second session was held to review these findings and to expand on them in a more court-friendly presentation. The final meeting consisted of reviewing the materials for the last time and signing each of the required documents. Andie then pushed to make a filing deadline within the shortest possible time and worked much of a weekend to make that happen. Soon I had a case number and a court date. The wait for my appearance was nerve wracking, but Andie telephoned regularly and promised to hold my hand through the entire proceedinhs. True to her promise, the day of my hearing Andie met me there, sat alongside me through the entire ordeal, unlike the other attorneys present who came from the back of the room only when their clients were called. "Above and Beyond again." Within a very few hours I walked out totally free of debt. So, I can say unequivocally that hiring Andie Ross to represent me in my bankruptcy literally did Change my Life. I knew I had to go through the bankruptcy procedure but was very nervous, and since the creditors were not being aggressive at all, I held off for a long time. I had given Andrea a deposit and she took care of a lot of calls. Then I finally said I have to do this (a year and a half later) and gave in... the rest of the deposit. I held off a bit longer because of a granddaughter due a month later. I finally pushed the button and went ahead. Andrea gave me a lot of work to do for all the information she needed and I got it all together, and she did a lot of data massaging to get it all in all the required forms. We reviewed everything thoroughly over the phone and she said it was ready to go. When we got to the person who did the review, he attacked the lawyer of the person ahead of us because so many things were vague or incomplete and I got nervous. But every I was dotted and T crossed, and it went right through. Then it was a 60 day wait for the court to get back. The bankruptcy was complete and the debts discharged without even having to go to court. Needless to say, that was an incredible relief. Andrea did an excellent job and my only regret was not having done it sooner and all that worrying. I would recommend her in an instant.
