My case was difficult and complex, dealing with not only custody but with relocation of over 1,000 miles. Ms. Shek and her partner attorneys took the case pro-bono, even though they knew they would be putting a great amount of time and effort into it with potentially no return for them, win or lose. They advised me that relocation can be nearly impossible to achieve in a custody case, but that they would do everything they could. Ms. Shek dedicated not only her time, experience and expertise to put the best possible defense and counter claim together for me, but she tirelessly kept me informed, offered her support and advice realistically yet compassionately, and interacted professionally with the very challenging personalities of opposing counsel. Ultimately, we won won the case and my kids and I have now been granted permission to relocate and start our lives over, which we desperately needed; an outcome that I attribute to Ms. Shek's hard work and diligence. I cannot recommend her enough!
I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maryland Law school in 2018 with a concentration in Health Law. While attending law school in the evening, I worked full-time as a Parole and Probation Agent for the State of Maryland. Prior to that, I worked in Connecticut as a polygraph examiner for convicted sex offenders. In addition to an extensive background in criminal justice, I have a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of New Haven, as well as Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice.
I have over ten years of experience in the criminal justice field, therefore I am skilled in navigating extremely tense and highly emotional situations. I strive to deescalate even the highest conflict cases, while strongly advocating for my client.
I am barred in the state of Maryland and am a current member of the Maryland Association for Justice (MAJ), the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA), the Anne Arundel County Bar Association, the Howard County Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, running half marathons and spending time with my family.
