Phillip Andrew Torrez

P. Andrew Torrez founded his own firm in 2015 after nearly twenty years of experience in “big firms” in Baltimore, Maryland and Washington DC.  Today, Mr. Torrez focuses his practice on business litigation in Maryland and the District of Columbia.  He represents individuals and businesses in complex civil disputes, including breach of contract and business torts, intellectual property, employment law, insurance coverage, and appeals before various state and federal appellate courts.  He has also worked very closely with individuals, startups, and established businesses to provide counseling, advice, and other services with an eye towards minimizing future potential liabilities.

In addition to his trial experience in state and federal courts, Mr. Torrez has also represented his clients in administrative proceedings, before state agencies such as the Maryland Board of Physicians and the Maryland Board of Education, in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including court-ordered mediation, and in AAA arbitration disputes with eight- and nine-figure sums at stake.  Mr. Torrez has briefed and argued numerous appeals before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, the Maryland Court of Appeals, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, as well as in the U.S. Court of Appeal for the Fourth Circuit.  He is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia and Maryland.

A 1997 graduate of Harvard Law School with honors, Mr. Torrez has been recognized as a “Local Litigation Star” for the State of Maryland by Benchmark Litigation since 2011, and was previously acknowledged as a “Rising Star” in the region.  He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Maryland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and belongs to the Serjant’s Inn and Wranglers law clubs in Baltimore.
